When you schedule a concrete coating with Drews Industries, we want you to know exactly what will happen and when. Our process has been refined over decades of work on garages, basements, patios, and commercial floors throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding metro.
From the first phone call to the final walkthrough, every step is designed to protect your property, keep the job on schedule, and deliver a floor that looks great and performs under real-world conditions.
Fill out the form below, and our team will reach out to schedule your consultation.
It all starts when you contact us. Once we hear from you, our team will follow up to learn more about your space, your goals, and any problem areas you’ve noticed. From there, we’ll schedule a time to visit your home or business that works with your schedule.
At your on-site appointment, a Drews Industries team member will:
Inspect your concrete for cracks, pitting, moisture issues, and existing coatings
Talk through how you use the space (vehicles, equipment, foot traffic, etc.)
Explain coating options and finish styles that fit your needs
Answer any questions you have about timing, prep, and maintenance
After the visit, you’ll receive a clear, detailed estimate.
Once you approve and sign your estimate, we’ll get your project on the installation schedule. Lead times can vary with the season, but we’ll give you a realistic timeline and keep you updated as your project date approaches.
Before installation day, we’ll review a few simple preparation steps with you. For most residential and light commercial projects, this includes clearing the floor so our crew can work efficiently and safely.
If you need a place to put your belongings while we work, we can help coordinate an optional on-site storage solution (such as an 8' x 20' lockable storage unit) for an additional charge. You’ll be able to use the unit for the duration of the project and have a little extra breathing room while your floor is being transformed.
On the day of your project, our crew arrives on time and ready to work. Before we start any grinding or coating, we take steps to protect your property:
Setting up dust control equipment
Protecting adjacent walls, doors, and finishes where needed
Reviewing access, power, and any special instructions you’ve shared
Our goal is to keep the work contained to the project area and leave the rest of your home or business as clean as we found it.
Proper preparation is what separates professional installations from quick-fix kits. Every coating we install starts with thorough surface prep.
Here’s what that looks like:
Mechanical grinding: We use professional grinding equipment to remove contaminants, clean the surface, and open the pores of the concrete. This creates the ideal profile for the coating to bond to.
Dust control: During grinding, we connect to high-powered, dust-controlled vacuums with HEPA filtration to keep the process as clean as possible and capture the majority of airborne dust.
Repairs: Any cracks, spalling, pits, or surface defects are repaired using appropriate patching materials. This step helps ensure a smooth, even finish and prevents issues from telegraphing through the coating.
Prep work is the foundation that helps your coating last for years instead of peeling or failing after a season or two.
With the surface fully prepped, we begin installing your chosen coating system. Every project starts with a high-performance primer or base coat that bonds deep into the concrete. If you’ve selected a decorative chip or quartz finish, we broadcast the material evenly across the floor by hand to create full, consistent coverage.
Once the base has cured, we scrape and vacuum the surface to remove excess chip or media and ensure a smooth, even profile. Then we apply a UV-stable topcoat that seals the system, protects against chemicals and weathering, and gives your floor its final polished finish.
The result is a durable, low-maintenance surface designed to look great and perform in real Minnesota conditions.
After the topcoat is applied, your floor needs time to cure. Exact cure times depend on the product and site conditions, but most residential coatings follow timelines similar to:
Light foot traffic: typically within 24 hours
Vehicle traffic: usually within a few days, as directed by our crew
Before we leave, we’ll walk you through how soon you can move items back in, when vehicles can return, and how to clean and maintain the coating so it continues to look its best.
We treat your property with the same respect we’d want for our own. When the installation is complete, we:
Remove our equipment, masking, and debris
Leave the space swept, tidy, and ready for use once curing is complete
Walk the project with you (if you’re available) to review the results and answer any questions
Our relationship doesn’t end when we pull out of the driveway. Drews Industries stands behind our work with strong warranties and a commitment to support. If you ever have questions about care, maintenance, or future projects, we’re only a phone call away.
Whether you’re coating a garage, basement, patio, or commercial floor, our team follows a step-by-step system designed for durability, safety, and long-lasting results. When you’re ready to protect your concrete with expert installation, we’re here to help.
